What is SERV?

SERV is the umbrella organization for community service at Olin. We are here to Support, Encourage, and Recognize Volunteerism in every form in the community. We support the core value of Philanthropy within the College.

We carry out those ambitious goals through a number of different activities:

  • Keeping track of recurrent volunteering activities, or "projects"
  • Support project leaders
  • Fund projects and one time events
  • Recruit new project team members
  • Communicate with external service organizations
  • Hold large one time events for the entire community to be involved in!

and generally ensure that community service is alive and well at Olin.

Who is SERV?

There are 7 members of the SERV Board that you can talk to with any SERV questions or to get involved.

  • Steve Westwood is SERV's chair. Outside of his time on SERV, he is working as the head of set for the FWOP show "Into the Woods." He's been involved in a variety of interesting service projects.
  • Ellen Chisa is the Manager of Finances and Records. She keeps track of all the records of SERV, including minutes and budgets. She is also our representative to CORe and produces a lovely website. Outside of SERV Ellen works with OVAL and FWOP.
  • Jillian Kiser is the Director of Committees. She's in charge of committe formation, delegation of tasks to committees, and making sure they stay on top of their tasks. Last Spring she did a passionate pursuit in quilting.
  • Rachel Nancollas and Alex Jones are two of the four General Members. They serve on committees, vote on policy issues, and are project liasons. Both are avid runners. See them in action at Race for the Cure?
  • You! Interested in getting invovled? In Fall 2007 we will be electing two more General Members! At least one will be a first-year student.

  • Our OSL Advisor is Alison Black
